Paul Joyce Confirms Liverpool Have Joined The Battle To Sign Spanish Stopper With 55M Release Clause

Liverpool are the latest Premier League club to take a keen interest in Villarreal defender Pau Torres, according to The Times reporter Paul Joyce.

The reliable journalist says the Spaniard is on the club’s radar for the summer transfer window, along with Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car and RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate.

Torres is a player who has been linked with a whole host of English teams over the past year, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United all having watched the centre-back.

The 24-year-old is left-footed and is tipped to become a top-class defender in the near future. He also has a release clause that may tempt some clubs into making a move for him.

Reports in Spain suggest that Torres could be bought for €65m (£55m), which would make him more expensive than either Caleta-Car or Konate, so we shall see if the Reds make him their top target.
