Paul Joyce Reveals Details About Liverpool’s Spending Plans Ahead Of Summer Rebuild

Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group, will give manager Jurgen Klopp money to spend in the summer, despite the increasing likelihood of missing out on Champions League football, according to the Times’ Paul Joyce.

The journalist, who is usually very reliable when it comes to the Reds, claims that the club are firmly behind Klopp and won’t let all the progress of the last five years be undone by one poor Premier League campaign:

“FSG will not abandon 53-year-old Klopp and plans to make money available to strengthen the team despite the increasing likelihood of missing out on a place in the Champions League next season.”

It is a surprising development considering what we know about FSG’s financial strategy. With finances tight due to the global health crisis and the prospect of no prize money from European matches, it would suggest a tightening of the purse strings.

However, it appears they are willing to take a gamble in order to ensure there is a quick return to the top of the table. What level of spending we will see, it is not known, but it is certainly welcome news.
