Paul Merson Makes Surprising Title Prediction Which Will Delight Liverpool Fans

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson still thinks Liverpool are the favourites for the Premier League title, even though they have lost both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to injury.

The former Arsenal midfielder believes the double blow will force manager Jurgen Klopp into all-out-attack mode. He can see the Reds using four forwards on a regular basis for the rest of the season, after witnessing how successful it was against Manchester City last weekend:

“Losing Joe Gomez is just going to make Liverpool even more attack-minded – and they are still the team to beat in the title race. I think it’s a big test for Jurgen Klopp to be without Gomez and Virgil van Dijk for any length of time.”

“Who would have thought in their wildest dreams that Liverpool would play Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino together away to one of the best teams in the country? I think it shocked City – and it worked. City didn’t exactly dominate them, did they?”

We are only eight games into the season, so it’s hard to see how things will play out, but it does seem that all of the top teams, like City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United do have their weaknesses.

Liverpool’s injury setbacks will, though, certainly move them back closer to the pack and the big question will be whether they can survive until the New Year when they will be able to sign reinforcements.
