Ex-Arsenal player Paul Merson is expecting his former club to beat Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday evening.

The Reds have only lost once at home in the league all season and, while he believes Jurgen Klopp‘s side will make it difficult for the Gunners, he still thinks the away team will come out on top:

“Jurgen Klopp wants his Liverpool side to play a certain way, and his team doesn’t have the legs to pull it off at the moment. It wasn’t too long ago that Liverpool were smashing Manchester United at home. This is going to be a difficult game for Arsenal, and a victory here would seal the Premier League title for me.”

Merson has gone with a 2-1 win to Arsenal, which isn’t a surprising prediction, considering the form of the two clubs heading into this weekend’s fixture.

Liverpool are coming into the game off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City and a 0-0 draw versus Chelsea; a match they could have also lost.

In contrast, Mikel Arteta’s side are on a seven-game winning streak in the Premier League and they currently sit top of the table.

While you wouldn’t bet against the Anfield crowd helping the Reds to secure another home win, you do feel that recent performances make that somewhat unlikely.
