Pep Lijnders Delivers Quadruple Injury Blow Ahead Of Norwich Clash

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders has confirmed that Thiago Alcantara, Neco Williams, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino won’t be available for the trip to Norwich tomorrow.

Thiago had to be taken off after sustaining a calf injury in the second half of the 3-0 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday and Lijnders says the Spaniard won’t return before the game versus Porto next week:

“I can’t say now how long it will take but definitely not tomorrow and not at the weekend. Let’s get the scan results back and we have a proper diagnosis. A shame as well because he was taking the game by the hand, he was a proper playmaker in my opinion. A shame that we miss him.”

Neco Williams would have been in line to start at right-back in the Carabao Cup tie against the Canaries but a foot injury means he won’t be ready for the match at Carrow Road.

Alexander-Arnold does not have the virus, but the illness that kept him out of the Palace game means he is still not 100% fit and the right-back is unlikely to feature until the Brentford clash this weekend.

Roberto Firmino is back in training after a hamstring issue, but the Norwich match has come too soon for him. He should, at least, be back on the bench on Saturday.
