Phillips To Start, Matip Out: Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face Tottenham

Liverpool were poor in the opening 45 minutes against Fulham on Sunday and they didn’t deserve more than a draw from the performance they put in. If they start as slowly against Spurs this evening, they could lose the game in the first half.

One of the reasons they stayed in the match at Craven Cottage was Alisson Becker, and he will undoubtedly keep his place in goal for the clash at Anfield tonight.

Trent Alexander-Arnold didn’t look sharp versus Fulham, as he is still getting up to speed after his calf injury, but he will need to be at his best when he comes up against Son Heung-Min who is in excellent form at the moment.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is sweating over the fitness of Joel Matip and, after suffering a back spasm at the weekend, it may be the case that Nat Phillips will have to replace him in the lineup and partner Fabinho. Andy Roberton will almost certainly start at left-back.

In midfield, Curtis Jones was excellent against Fulham, so he should keep his place alongside captain Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum. With Diogo Jota out injured, the usual front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah are expected to start.

Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face Tottenham:

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Fabinho, Robertson, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jones, Salah, Firmino, Mane
