Liverpool are weighing up a potential move for Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji, according to reports in the English media.
The Reds are looking at potential centre-back targets ahead of the January transfer window, and the Swiss international is being considered along with RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano and Brighton’s Ben White.
However, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal said to be keen on the likes of Upamecano and White, Liverpool are hesitant about getting involved in a bidding war and could look at Akanji as a cheaper alternative next month. However, fans on Twitter don’t think the 25-year-old would be the right choice:

Borussia Dortmund’s defensive record this season is pretty poor, having conceded 18 in 13 league games, including a 5-1 home defeat to Stuttgart earlier this month, which Akanji was involved in.
Supporters will be hoping that the Reds steer clear of the Swiss defender and move on to better options.
