With Liverpool looking to retain their Premier League title after winning it for the first time in 30 years many would have felt there were only two possible candidates for the club’s top scorer this season.

With the defence of their title looking possible, goals are not at a shortage so who will lead the club?

The leading choice has to be Mo Salah as things stand with the Egyptian King looking at his most deadly in front of goal again this season. He has grabbed 10 goals in 13 games for the Reds showing that he is in top form as he was in the 2018/19 season.

Sadio Mane may well have something to say about this and has to be a strong contender for Liverpool’s top scorer after his early season form. The Senegal international is only getting better and better and many would not vote against him as he has 5 goals in 11 games despite an illness hit campaign.

Earlier in the year Roberto Firmino would have been the only other choice but with him not in such great form in front of the net his other attributes are keeping him firmly in Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans. The Brazilian may still have a big role to play if injuries to attacking players hit the squad but he has to be the least likely top scorer.

New man Diogo Jota is already showing that he could well be a winner of Liverpool’s top goal scorer with his explosive start to his Reds career. The Portuguese international has hit the ground running with his 7 goal haul in 13 games including a Champions League hat-trick and is well worth a vote.
