The Premier League are in “high level” talks about what to do if the Coronavirus outbreak leads to the postponement of league games, according to the Liverpool Echo.

There had been reports that there are no guarantees that the Reds would be handed the title if the season ended prematurely, but it is believed no decision has been made on what will happen in such an eventuality.

Currently, the Premier League are considering a wide range of options and they looking for advice from the British government about what to do if the Coronavirus cannot be contained in the UK.

The Premier League board itself would have the final say on how the Premier League standings for this season would be decided if the fixture list cannot be completed.

In Italy, five games have been postponed this weekend, including the top of the table clash between Juventus and Inter Milan, but there are currently far fewer cases of the virus in the UK.
