Premier League Legend Suspended After Bust-Up With Former Manchester City Star

Former Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has been suspended after allegedly punching Leroy Sane in the face after Bayern Munich’s 3-0 Champions League quarter-final first-leg defeat against Manchester City.

As such, Mane will not feature in Bayern’s next competitive fixture, when Stern des Südens take on 1899 Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on April 15.

In a statement made by the club, it reads: “Sadio Mane, 31, will not be included in the FC Bayern squad for this Saturday’s home match against 1899 Hoffenheim.

“This is due to his misconduct after Bayern’s Champions League match at Manchester City. Mane will also be given a fine.”

The incident is thought to have taken place soon after the full-time whistle was blown. According to German outlet Bild, Mane was displeased with the manner in which Sane had spoken to him following the conclusion of the game.

Mane played for Liverpool from 2016-2022, after signing from Southampton. He quickly established himself as one of the Reds’ most important players, with his explosive pace and wicked eye for goal. He scored 90 Premier League goals for Liverpool and also won both the Premier League title and a Champions League trophy.

Sane, on the other hand, played for Manchester City between the years of 2016 and 2020. In that time, the German international scored 25 goals in 90 league games for the Citizens – he also won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and one FA Cup.
