Pundit calls on Jurgen Klopp to stay at Liverpool long term

Sky Sports News pundit Paul Merson believes that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp should stay at the club long term in order to win the Premier League and create a legacy for himself and the team.

Klopp has been manager at Anfield for 3 years now, and is already one of the most popular men to have ever taken up the role.

His exciting style of play combined with his charismatic personality bodes well with the people of Liverpool, and it’s fair to say he is slowly but surely creating a team that is feared around the world.

One thing is missing though, trophies. Klopp has made himself quite a reputation over the years for his failure to deliver in cup finals, and, with Liverpool failing to win a league title in 28 years – it’s certainly the one big thing missing.

However, Merson believes that the Reds are well on their way to a Premier League title under Klopp, and that the German should stay at the club until he wins one – saying that it would create a lasting legacy.

Talking on Sky Sports’ The Debate, Merson said: “Where does he go after Liverpool unless he takes the Germany squad?

“Liverpool haven’t won the squad in 28 years. This(?) will be legendary status.

“He can go to Bayern where they win it on the trot.

“If this happens (in Liverpool), he will be remembered forever. He has built something steadily.”

Liverpool’s side at the moment genuinely feels like there could be something special about to happen. City will be no pushovers for their title, but the Reds are top contenders, and will almost certainly give them a big run for their money.
