Pundit Lists Two Liverpool Stars In His Top 3 Candidates For Player Of The Year As He Dismisses De Bruyne’s Chances

TalkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy believes Liverpool duo Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, along with Spurs’s Son Heung-min, are the favourites for this season’s PFA Player of the Year.

Speaking after Manchester City’s 5-1 win over Wolves last night, where Kevin De Bruyne scored four goals, Cundy played down the Belgian midfielder’s chances of winning the award, whilst listing his main candidates:

“I’m not convinced the Kevin De Bruyne we’ve seen in the last six months has been the very best Kevin De Bruyne we’ve seen. I don’t think he’s in the conversation [for PFA Player of the Year]. I don’t think he’s in the top three. Salah’s in it, Mane’s in it.”

Cundy is not usually that insightful when it comes to his opinions on football but the former Chelsea and Tottenham player is pretty much spot on with his top three.

Mane has been in scintillating form in 2022, along with Son, and while Salah has certainly gone off the boil in recent months, you can’t argue with 30 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

De Bruyne is undoubtedly worth a mention, considering he is dragging his team ever closer to a Premier League title but, individually, he has been eclipsed by others this season.
