Pundit Makes Shock Saudi Transfer Claim About Key Liverpool Star Who Could “Earn More Than Ronaldo”

TalkSPORT presenter Gabriel Agbonlahor claims “a source” has “told” him that Liverpool forward Mo Salah will leave for a club in Saudi Arabia at the end of the season.

The Egyptian’s contract with the Reds expires next June and Agbonlahor believes the player has an offer from the Middle East that means he will get a higher wage than ex-Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo:

“I know Salah’s going. I’ve got a source that told me Salah’s definitely going… Saudi, on a record contract.”

“I’m hearing that he will earn more than [Cristiano] Ronaldo, he’ll be the face of the football over there. You can’t turn that down if you’re Mo Salah. He’s done everything at Liverpool hasn’t he?”

Will Salah leave for Saudi Arabia?

It shouldn’t need to be pointed but Agbonlahor is not a journalist. Whether his source is reliable, it is up for debate. He isn’t Fabrizio Romano or David Ornstein.

With that being the case, fans should take what he says about Salah with a very large pinch of salt, but a move to Saudi cannot be completely ruled out.

The former Chelsea and Roma forward is currently earning £350,000 a week with the Reds, but the club are unlikely to give him an extension that will increase his salary, especially at his age. If he does want to earn more, a transfer would be the only option.

There are doubts over the future of 2 other Liverpool players

Salah is not the only member of the first-team squad who could leave next summer. Captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have not signed on the dotted line either.

While van Dijk has hinted that he would like to remain on Merseyside, Alexander-Arnold has suggested that he is undecided about his future. In a recent interview, the 25-year-old claimed he would make a choice based on the prospect of winning trophies.
