RB Leipzig’s Sporting Director Provides A Transfer Update On Timo Werner

RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche has confirmed that the Bundesliga club have yet to receive any approaches for striker Timo Werner.

The German reportedly has a €60m (£52m) release clause which expires at the end of April, but when asked if any team had tabled an offer, Krosche replied:

“There has been nothing at all. But it’s normal that Timo gets into the focus of other clubs. He’s playing a very, very good season and scores very, very often.”

“Timo has a long-term contract and there are not many things that favour him leaving us. We play Champions League, we have a super coaching team and we still want to achieve a lot.”

Werner caused a stir last month when he said that he could see himself playing for Liverpool, but the 23-year-old has also been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barcelona in recent weeks.

The forward has been in exceptional form this campaign, having scored 27 goals and provided 11 assists in 34 appearances, but it remains to be seen whether Jurgen Klopp’s side will opt to make a formal bid for the player.

Werner is reportedly looking for regular first-team football if he does leave RB Leipzig but the Reds may not be able to offer what he is seeking.
