Ex-Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes the Reds will win the Premier League title this season ahead of rivals Manchester City. The Merseyside club lost out by one point to Pep Guardiola’s side last campaign.

However, the former player turned TV pundit says he believes Jurgen Klopp’s men have what it takes to overhaul City at the top of the table this time around:

“After missing out on the Premier League title by a single point to Manchester City, he re-motivated his players and made sure they did not miss out on being crowned champions of Europe.”

“That was Klopp’s first trophy with the club and I suspect more will follow this season – including the Premier League title. I expect this year’s race to be as tight as the last but I have a feeling that Liverpool could pip their rivals to it.”

A lot has to go right for Liverpool to clinch top spot this campaign. With the Reds having failed to add to their squad during the summer so far, it is imperative that their best players stay injury-free.

On top of that, they will be hoping City have a slight dip in standards after accruing an astonishing 198 points over the past two seasons.

Asking Liverpool to reach nearly 100 points for a second season in a row would be a mammoth task, especially when you consider the seven competitions that the club are playing in this campaign.
