Redknapp Singles Out Liverpool Star Who He Thinks Has Overtaken Salah As Club’s ‘Main Man’

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has been hugely impressed by Sadio Mane’s form since the beginning of the year. The Senegalese international put in another excellent performance against Southampton at the weekend.

The forward struck a superb curling effort to put the Reds 1-0 up before half-time while he also set up Roberto Firmino for the second goal midway through the second half. Redknapp thinks Mane’s consistency means he has overtaken Mo Salah to be the club’s most dangerous player:

“Sadio Mane is making a great case to be considered Liverpool’s main man above Mohamed Salah. The 27-year-old is producing magic on the pitch and would walk into any team.”

Mane has not shown any ill effects from having a short break after the African Cup of Nations. With three goals and one assist in three appearances, the 27-year-old has picked up from where he left off at the back end of last season.

Whether the Senegalese ace will be able to keep up this level of performance for the rest of the campaign, we shall see. He is not looked jaded at all despite his lack of rest but that may change as the games mount up near the end of the year. The Reds will hopefully manage his game time so he can continue to give his best.
