Reds defender confident in silverware next season

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk insists the Reds are on track to mount a serious challenge for silverware next season.

The Reds failed to put pressure on champions Manchester City in the league last season, but reached the Champions League final in heroic fashion.

Their European cup run will have inspired the team to go a step further next season, and with the additions Klopp is making to the squad so far this summer it is a promising period at the club.

Van Dijk, who has been a revelation at Anfield since his world-record move in January, says he is confident the team can work towards achieving silverware.

“We’re going to work our socks off and do everything possible to make it happen this season. We were very close to silverware but obviously not close enough,” Van Dijk told Liverpool’s website.

“Like I said when I arrived, I want to achieve everything possible with this beautiful club.

The Dutchman then went on to speak about his own personal development, saying: “I can improve in any aspect of the game. At the moment, it’s getting back to full fitness, making sure I’m getting better and stronger than I was before.

“I will work every day and do everything possible and no doubt it will happen.”
