Reliable Journalist Confirms ‘Klopp Is Monitoring’ 80M Rated Midfielder Ahead Of ‘Potential Transfer Next Summer’

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, according to Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger.

The usually reliable German reporter has confirmed reports in the UK that the Reds are weighing up a potential bid for the £80m rated teenager at the end of the season:

Bellingham’s performances for Dortmund and England have also led the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City to monitor the player’s progress.

Even if you put aside the competition for the 18-year-old’s signature, Dortmund’s reluctance to sell, as Berger also points out, won’t make a deal easy to complete for Liverpool.

However, strengthening the club’s options in midfield will be a key priority next summer. The Reds have not yet replaced Georginio Wijnaldum, while both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will have one year remaining on their contracts in June.

With both Jordan Henderson and James Milner in their 30s, lining up a young replacement like Bellingham seems like a wise course of action.
