Liverpool “remain in pole position” to sign Lille midfielder Renato Sanches, according to Sport Italia pundit Rudy Galetti.
The Italian journalist says that while Barcelona have enquired about the Portuguese international recently, the Reds are still favourites to secure the player’s signature:
?? Renato #Sanches, #Liverpool have not yet formalized an offer. However, #Reds remain in pole position for the ?? midfielder. ? But watch out for #Barcelona: ?? asked #Lille for information. Evolving situation. ?⚽️ #Calciomercato #Transfers #EPL #Ligue1 https://t.co/OnP4a9OxBf

A more reliable source, Fabrizio Romano, said over the weekend that Liverpool are not currently prioritising a deal for Sanches, even though they are interested in the 23-year-old.
With reports in France indicating that Arsenal are also keen on the Portuguese star, there are some concerns that delaying a bid for the player could lead to Liverpool missing out on him.
Galetti seems to be confident, at the moment at least, that the Merseyside club have the upper hand in the race to snap up Sanches, but that could well change over the coming days and weeks.
The Reds are seemingly pursuing other midfield targets as well, with it being suggested that Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella are also on the club’s radar.
