Liverpool’s shocking display of finishing against Newcastle was not a one-off this season, and the stats show just how bad they have been in front of goal.
The Reds have now scored just four home goals from 146 shots since the start of 2021, which is a conversion rate of only 2.74%:

Manager Jurgen Klopp lamented his team’s profligacy in front of goal after the 1-1 draw yesterday and it is a major concern in terms of the Reds’ dwindling hopes of finishing in the top four.
The wastefulness appears to be spreading as well. Both Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have been extremely poor in finishing chances, but Diogo Jota was just as guilty with some astonishingly poor shooting.
Mo Salah has certainly been the best of a bad bunch, but even the Egyptian international was not immune when he fluffed a one-on-one chance against Newcastle, which could have put his side 2-0 up. It’s a bizarre downturn in fortunes for a frontline that has been so lethal in previous seasons.
