Report Claims Liverpool Have ‘Recently’ Joined Other PL Clubs In Pursuing 43M Rated Portuguese Star

Liverpool have “recently” entered the fray to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes, according to Jornal de Noticias.

The Portuguese newspaper claims the Reds have joined the likes of Chelsea and Wolves in keeping tabs on the player’s situation.

It was reported last week that Chelsea were considering making a €50m (£43m) offer for Nunes, so Jurgen Klopp’s side may be forced into stepping up their interest soon.

Whether they will, it remains to be seen. Klopp has spoken out in the past few days to refute suggestions that the Reds need reinforcements in the middle of the park.

The Liverpool manager says he is very happy with the options at his disposal, but the pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni earlier this summer does suggest otherwise.

Were another team, such as Chelsea, to make a move for Nunes, it would be interesting to find out whether Liverpool would compete for the 23-year-old’s signature.
