Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp “maintains contacts” with Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, according to Sport but the Catalan publication claims PSG’s appointment of Mauricio Pochettino could scupper the Reds’ plans of signing the France international.
Mbappe’s current deal at the Parc des Princes expires at the end of next season and if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new contract, he could well be sold next summer, with both Liverpool and Real Madrid waiting in the wings.
Pochettino’s appointment could, however, change the situation drastically. PSG are hoping the Argentine will be able to convince the Frenchman into staying at the Ligue One champions, after previously persuading Harry Kane to remain at Spurs during his time with the London club.
Sport’s article is pretty speculative, simply making assumptions rather than offering evidence for their story but their claim that Liverpool are still very much in the race for Mbappe is interesting.
