Liverpool and Aston Villa have both registered an interest in Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, according to AS.
The Spanish newspaper claims the 20-year-old has been attracting suitors in the Premier League and it’s likely that there will new approaches for the player at the end of the season when he will have just a year left on his contract.
Williams was originally linked with the Reds (along with Chelsea, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain) back in November, so the transfer speculation is nothing new.
However, AS now say that talks over extending the pacey forward’s contract have yet to get fully underway, raising more questions about the Spanish international’s future.
While Williams does have a €50m (£45m) release clause, the amount of time left on his current deal means Athletic may have to sell for below that amount this summer if negotiations over an extension don’t reach a successful conclusion.
