Liverpool have opened talks with the agent of Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi according to Kicker.

The German magazine reports that Bayern Munich remain keen on signing the 18-year-old but they may face competition from the Reds after the Merseyside club made an approach to the player’s representative.

Currently, Chelsea are unwilling to let Hudson-Odoi leave despite the teenager’s contract being due to expire at the end of next season.

The London side’s transfer ban means they will likely fight to keep hold of the England international, even though the player requested to leave in January when Bayern originally tried to sign the winger.

Liverpool’s only realistic chance of signing Hudson-Odoi is if the youngster runs down his contract. The Reds would then only have to pay compensation to the Blues.

A lot can happen between now and 2020, though, and the player could even sign a new contract at Chelsea if he is offered more game time. This transfer saga is likely to go on for a while longer yet.
