REPORT: Liverpool End Their Pursuit Of Austrian Star As They ‘Assume’ He’s Already ‘Decided’ To Sign For Another Club

Liverpool have decided to withdraw from the race to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer on a free transfer, according to Spox.

The website claims the Reds “assume” that the Austrian international has “decided” to join Bayern Munich and won’t pursue the matter any further.

Last week, Laimer raised hopes that a move to Anfield next summer was a genuine possibility after claiming he was a “fan” of the Reds but it appears he will now be staying in Germany.

Other Premier League teams, including Manchester United and Chelsea, had also been keeping tabs on the 25-year-old, whose contract at Leipzig is set to expire at the end of the season.

Uncertainty surrounding the futures of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner mean Liverpool are expected to be in the market for a midfielder, but it seems Laimer is no longer among the options being considered by the Merseyside club.
