REPORT: Liverpool Have ‘Already Tabled’ Loan To Buy Offer For Werner Alternative

Liverpool have “already tabled” a bid for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, according to the Football Insider

After missing out on Timo Werner to Chelsea, the Reds have reportedly made a swift offer for an alternative, with the Frenchman having been on the club’s watchlist for a long time.

It is believed that Liverpool have proposed a loan with an option to buy, which is probably a wise move considering Dembele’s injury record.

The France international has spent most of this season on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, having made just nine appearances for Barca in total.

A loan would allow the Reds to assess Dembele’s fitness over the course of the season and, if he remains fit, they could then swoop in and sign him permanently.

The Football Insider isn’t always a reliable source, though, so while it seems like a promising development, fans would be wise to take this story with a pinch of salt. Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko recently said the player would be staying at the Camp Nou:

“I don’t expect Dembele to leave Barcelona this summer.”
