REPORT: Liverpool Have ‘Asked About’ The Availability Of World Cup Winner Along With 4 Other Clubs

Liverpool have made an enquiry about Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, according to Kicker.

The German publication claims that the Reds have “asked about” the availability of the 27-year-old, along with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan.

Pavard has just a year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena and there has been no indication that he will put pen to paper on an extension.

Bayern could, therefore, be forced to sell the World Cup winner for a relatively low price before the end of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are in the market for a centre-back

The Reds have been linked with a number of centre-halves in recent weeks, with the likes of Sporting’s Goncalo Inacio, Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven, Chelsea’s Levi Colwill, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Evan Ndicka and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi all suggested as potential targets.

Most of the names mentioned, though, have been left-footed players. Pavard, in contrast, is right-footed, and he has also been regularly deployed as a right-back during his career. He could, therefore, be a possible replacement for Joel Matip if the 31-year-old leaves.
