REPORT: Liverpool Have Brazilian Teenage Sensation In Their ‘Sights’ But PL Rival Could Beat Them To The Punch

Liverpool are interested in Flamengo attacking midfielder Matheus Franca, according to Torcedores.com.

The Brazilian website claims the teenager is “in the sights” of the Reds, while Crystal Palace and Newcastle have also been keeping tabs on the player. However, Arsenal are said to be the team who could well pose the biggest danger.

Tocodores.com reports that the Gunners sent their scout Jonathan Vidalle to watch Franca play for Flamengo against Nublense in the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday night.

With Franca only coming on as a late substitute, though, Vidalle wouldn’t have seen much of the player in action.

After making his senior debut against Santos in December 2021, Franca has since established himself in Flamengo’s first team. He signed a new contract a couple of months ago which included a €200m (£176m) release clause so, if Liverpool do make a move for the midfielder in the future, he is unlikely to be cheap.
