Liverpool have proposed a five-year contract, worth €8m (£6.8m) a season to RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, according to Italian journalist Nicola Schira.
Taking to Twitter yesterday, Schira claimed that the Reds were willing to pay the forward’s €58m (£49m) release clause and that talks are “ongoing” to finalise the transfer:
#Liverpool have offered to Timo #Werner a contract until 2025 with a wages of €8M + bonuses a year. Talks ongoing to finalize the deal. #transfers #LFC https://t.co/6QPL1SYvuV

Schira’s reporting is not always reliable so it’s best to remain sceptical about these claims. £6.8m a season works out at around £130,000 a week which seems like a realistic figure, and Werner’s recent comments about his style of play suiting Liverpool would also suggest that he would be very open to a move.
However, the feeling has been that manager Jurgen Klopp will not be able to guarantee the type of game time which the German international would be looking for.
Other reports claim that Werner is waiting on the Reds to make an approach, but Schira is suggesting that they already have. We shall have to wait and see whether his reporting turns out to be accurate.
