Liverpool are interested in Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, according to Calciomercatoweb.it. The Italian website claims the Reds are keen on the Croatian international as they look at potential alternatives to Thiago Alcantara.
It would be wise to take this story with a large pinch of salt, though, as they suggest that the Nerazzurri are holding out for around €40m (£37m) for the 27-year-old, which is a lot more than they would have to pay for their top target.
Reports in Germany suggest that Bayern would demand only €30m (£28m) for Thiago so paying almost £10m more for a player, who is nowhere the same level, looks very unlikely. Were Inter to half their valuation for Brozovic before the transfer window closes, that may make the deal more attractive.
The Serie A side are keen to raise funds in order to sign Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante. They had offered Brozovic in their deal to sign the French midfielder but the Blues rejected the bid.
