REPORT: Liverpool Make £20m Bid For Turkish International Keeper

Liverpool have made an offer of €24m (£20m) for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, according to Sabah. The Turkish publication reports that the 23-year-old is just one of a number of the Super Lig side’s players who have been subjected to bids this month.

At the beginning of January, Trabzonspor’s president Ahmet Agaoglu confirmed that the Reds had tabled a proposal for the shot-stopper:

“There are offers for Cakir, we continue to receive offers. It’s been said Liverpool have made an offer.”

It remains to be seen whether this latest report from Turkey is accurate or whether Trabzonspor are looking to auction off Cakir by using the name of Liverpool to bring in potential bidders.

It is unlikely that the Merseyside club would need to sign a new keeper this month. Adrian has performed ably as Alisson Becker’s understudy this season, when the Brazilian has been out injured or rested in cup competitions.

Cakir is a lot younger than Adrian, though, with the Spaniard having turned 33 earlier this month, and Liverpool may well be planning for the future.
