REPORT: Liverpool Star Could Ask To Leave The Club Before Saturday’s Match Against Leeds

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum wants to “clarify his future” before the Reds face Leeds in the first game of the season on Saturday, according to Sport.

The Catalan publication claims the 29-year-old “wants to play” for Barca and he will need to force through the move if he is keen to make the switch to the Camp Nou before the transfer window closes.

Reports in the UK suggest Liverpool would hold out for around £15m for Wijnaldum, although some journalists have disputed that figure claiming the asking price is too low.

However, even for that amount Sport say Barcelona would not be interested in making a deal happen. It will up to the player to make clear what his intentions are to the likes of manager Jurgen Klopp and the club’s hierarchy.

With talks over an extension to Wijnaldum’s contract having not resumed, it appears the writing is very much on the wall, with the Dutchman’s departure looking ever more likely.
