Liverpool will be involved in a two-team battle for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho at the end of the season, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website has tipped the Reds to “challenge” Manchester United for the England international in the summer when the 20-year-old is likely to be available.

Dortmund demanded €120m (£107m) for Sancho at the start of the campaign and that reportedly put off United from making a formal bid for the former Manchester City academy graduate.

Whether the winger’s price tag has been lowered, it remains to be seen, but it does look like there won’t be any other competition for the player’s signature, as things stand.

Both Chelsea and Real Madrid have also been mentioned as potential destinations for Sancho in the past but it seems Liverpool and United are the clubs who have the most pressing need to strengthen their attacks.

Doubts over Mo Salah’s future, following recent comments from the Egyptian, mean that Liverpool may be eyeing a new right-winger, and Sancho would fit the bill perfectly.
