Spanish rumour mongers TodoFichajes claim to have an “exclusive” in regards to Liverpool’s attempts to sign Lille forward Victor Osimhen.

They have made the very bold statement of saying that the Reds are “very close to announcing” the €50m (£44m) transfer of the 21-year-old with the move set to be “made official next week.”

How a Spanish website would have come across such information before more reliable sources in England or France is anyone’s guess, but they insist the transfer of Osimhen to Anfield is imminent.

With the end of the Ligue One season, they say that negotiations for the Nigerian international have accelerated, with Lille keen to get a deal over the line in order to raise funds.

Osimhen has been mentioned as a Liverpool target in recent months, but he is also reportedly on Chelsea and Manchester United’s radar. The striker scored 18 goals in 38 appearances for Lille this campaign.
