REPORT: Liverpool Wonderkid Could Go Out On Loan Next Season

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Portuguese starlet Fabio Carvalho could be shipped out on loan next season, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

While the move remains a possibility, Klopp has nonetheless said that he has been ‘impressed’ with Carvalho’s performances and development this season.

According to Romano, Klopp said: “There’a a chance that Carvalho will go on loan next season No one has impressed me more than Fabio this season, trust me. His work ethic will give him a fantastic career”.

Would Fabio Carvalho benefit from a loan move?

If Carvalho is sent out on loan next season, it is unclear as to where he might end up. A move to his former club, Fulham, could be a solid option – the Cottagers have gone from strength to strength this season under Marco Silva, even with star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic missing a large chunk of the campaign.

Nevertheless, Carvalho’s gametime for Liverpool has been somewhat limited this season – he has struggled to break into the first team ahead of the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota.

As such, a loan move makes sense – it would allow him to play regular first-team football. This season, Carvalho has scored two goals in 20 games throughout all competitions, with no assists to speak of.

Fabio Carvalho career summary

Carvalho’s youth career began at Olivais Sul, who he joined when he was just seven years old. He also spent time in the academies of Benfica and Balham before he made the jump to Fulham in 2015.

He made his senior debut for the Cottagers in 2020 – immediately, his quick feet and natural flair with the ball caught the eye of onlookers and scouts alike.

In 2022, Carvalho signed for Liverpool for a reported fee of £7.7 million – he has remained a Reds player ever since.
