REPORT: Real Madrid Eye Up Liverpool Ace For Shock Transfer

Liverpool could soon be rocked by a serious bid for one of their key players – according to a report from the Daily Mail, Andy Robertson is the subject of interest from Real Madrid.

Madrid are in the hunt for a left-back, as an exit for current left-sided full-back Ferland Mendy looks to be on the cards. Should his departure become official, Robertson is one of several players that Madrid will pursue to replace the Frenchman.

According to the Mail, Madrid would be willing to pay Liverpool a tidy sum of £40 million to acquire Robertson’s services. Whether this would be enough to turn Jurgen Klopp’s head or not is, at this moment in time, unknown.

Should Liverpool hold on to Andy Robertson?

Short answer: yes, Liverpool should hold on to Andy Robertson. Long answer: yes, Liverpool should definitely hold on to Andy Robertson.

Even as Liverpool’s key players experience fluctuations in form, Robertson has always remained consistently above par. Moreover, his work rate is an inspiration – it sets a good example for the Reds’ younger talents.

Robertson is the ideal player to fit into a Jurgen Klopp system. His pressing is both relentless and intelligent – while not the most technically adept player in the world, his importance to Liverpool’s team is monumental.

Andy Robertson career summary

Robertson’s youth career began its life at Celtic for a brief period, before being released by his boyhood club. However, he was not without options – he subsequently joined Queen’s Park after his Celtic heartbreak.

He made his professional debut in the 2012/13 season for Queen’s Park – in total, he went on to make 34 appearances for The Spiders, scoring two goals.

After spending a year at Dundee United, Robertson was snapped up by Hull City. With the Tigers, Robertson began to display his talents to a wider audience – including Liverpool, who signed him in 2017 for a bargain fee of £8 million.
