Report Reveals 23 Year Old Midfielder Is Learning English Ahead Of Potential Liverpool Switch

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes is brushing up on his English ahead of a prospective switch to the Premier League, according to the Correio da Manha.

The Portuguese newspaper claims the 23-year-old is being helped by teammate Marcus Edwards, as he anticipates a future move to the UK.

It is believed that Liverpool could be lining up an offer for Nunes, although it should be pointed out that the Correio da Manha have made the claim before without any such bid materialising.

The injury to Thiago Alcantara is thought to have prompted the Reds to step up their interest in Nunes, but we shall see whether it actually leads to a formal approach.

Sporting are holding out for a fee of €45m (£38m) plus €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons; an asking price that has been known for some time. Chelsea, Manchester City and Wolves have also been mentioned as potential suitors, with the latter likely to be the Reds’ biggest rivals for Nunes’s signature.
