Report Reveals Liverpool’s Surprise Stance On Handing Mo Salah A New Contract

Liverpool are currently “unsure” whether to open negotiations with Mo Salah over a new contract, according to The Athletic.

The website reports that despite expectations that the club’s top goalscorer would be offered an extension soon, with his current deal expiring in 2023, the Reds are holding off from making a decision on the player’s future.

The main issue seems to be the uncertainty over whether Salah actually wants to stay at Anfield. His interview with a Spanish newspaper back in December, combined with some of the actions of his agent, has left them hesitant.

If the 28-year-old is trying to negotiate an improved salary, Liverpool are said to be reluctant to give in, as they know neither of his potential suitors, Real Madrid and Barcelona, are in a good enough position financially to make an offer.

Currently, there appears to be a stalemate between Salah and the club, which doesn’t look like it will end any time soon.
