Liverpool would be Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount’s “main choice” if he decides to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, according to FootballTransfers.com.
Talks between England international and the Blues over a new contract have reached an impasse and there is increasing speculation that the player will seek an exit this summer.
Manchester City and Manchester United have also been linked as potential suitors for Mount by credible sources but it appears the 24-year-old prefers a switch to Anfield.
In an ideal world, the midfielder would like to stay at Chelsea. However, there is thought to be no agreement over extending his current deal, which is set to expire in 2024.
Mount is currently earning just £80,000 a week and he is keen to be handed a wage similar to the London club’s highest earners, who take home close to £300,000 a week. Whether Liverpool would be prepared to give him such a sizeable salary, we shall have to wait and see.
