Jurgen Klopp has issued an update on the availability of young Liverpool star Fabio Carvalho amid rumours that he could leave the club in the summer transfer window [via Fabrizio Romano on Twitter].
While Carvalho may be set for an Anfield exit in the summer, Klopp has indicated that he may be against this – in an interview, he remarked on how the Portuguese starlet has been ‘outstanding’ in training.
In Romano’s tweet, Klopp said: “I’d like to make all of these decisions with the boys before we talk about it. There is no decision in either direction yet. What I can say, is that this week he was exceptional in training. Fabio’s really outstanding”.
Carvalho was snapped up by the Reds in the summer of 2022 for a reported fee of £7.7 million. He initially played for Fulham, where he caught the eye of many observers in their Championship promotion season last year.
At just 20 years of age, Carvalho still has plenty of developing to do. He is a very promising prospect – it would seem rash of Liverpool to cash in on him so early in his career.
This season, Carvalho has scored just three goals in all competitions, picking up zero assists along the way. He hasn’t had the brightest of starts in the Premier League, but he also has plenty of time to prove his worth at the top level.
