Robertson Tips 19 Year Old To Have “Big Career At Liverpool” After Impressive Display

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool fullback Andy Robertson is backing midfielder Curtis Jones to go on and establish himself in the Reds’ first-team after the 19-year-old was handed his first league start against Burnley.

The teenager was at the centre of a lot of Liverpool’s attacking play during the 1-1 draw and Robertson thinks the midfielder has a big future ahead of him in the game:

“Curtis [Jones] has all the confidence and all the ability in the world and he showed that in times today. Hopefully, he has a big career at Liverpool.”

Jones was certainly in the thick of it, although it must be said that he did miss two good chances to score on the day; the second of which could have put the Reds into an unassailable lead.

Even so, it was a very impressive showing by the youngster, and it’s clear that manager Jurgen Klopp has faith in the player after picking him ahead of the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.

Whether we’ll see him in the starting eleven again this season, it remains to be seen, but he did more than enough to suggest that he’ll get plenty more first-team opportunities in the future.
