Roma are preparing a bid for Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren, according to reports in Italy.
The Croatian international is said to be the Giallorossi’s main alternative to Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld who they believe is too expensive.
Spurs are demanding €28m for the Belgian defender but Roma think Lovren could be available for as little as €20m (£18.2m).
It is claimed that the 30-year-old is willing to leave Anfield for first-team football after making just 18 appearances for the Reds last campaign.
Whether that is true or not, it remains to be seen. Lovren spent lengthy spells on the sidelines with injury last season which limited his game time.
Even if the Croatian wanted to make the move to Italy, Liverpool might not be open to selling anyway.
With only eight days to go before the transfer window closes, the Merseyside club would struggle to replace Lovren if he were to leave for Roma.
