Romano Confirms Liverpool And Chelsea Are “Still Trying To Convince” Bundesliga Star To Sign For Them

Liverpool, Chelsea and other teams are still trying to persuade Bayern Munich defender David Alaba to sign for them on a free transfer despite Real Madrid being the favourites, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The reliable Italian journalist believes that the La Liga champions do have a “verbal agreement” with the Austrian, but the fact that no contract has been signed yet means there is still a chance he could move to another club:

It does appear as though that Alaba will not be moving to Anfield in the summer. Some other reporters have already dismissed claims that Liverpool are interested in the 28-year-old but Romano has always been insistent the Reds are actively pursuing him.

From the sound of things, the player’s wages are likely to be a major stumbling block, and with Alaba seemingly enthusiastic about joining Real, it seems that the Premier League champions are now a distant second in the race for his signature.
