Romano Lays Out Liverpool And Arsenal’s Transfer Stance On Yves Bissouma

Neither Liverpool nor Arsenal are prioritising the signing of Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma currently, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The reliable Italian journalist was speaking on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast when he confirmed that the two clubs are currently focusing on other targets, with the Reds only scouting the Frenchman at this stage:

“Bissouma is a fantastic player for Brighton, he is one of the players in the list of Arsenal, but he’s not at the first position for Arsenal. And talking about Liverpool, they’re scouting him because they consider him an interesting player for the future, but there are no bids, no negotiation for Liverpool and so at the moment, he is not like the main target. They are not working to sign Bissouma, scouting a player is one thing, signing a player is another thing and they are not working on signing Bissouma.”

It is not a surprising claim, considering The Athletic journalist James Pearce said last week that Liverpool are not currently interested in signing Bissouma.

There have, though, been reports from the same website that have suggested that the Merseyside club were after the 24-year-old, while there were rumours about a meeting between the club and the player’s agent last week.

Romano is generally the person to trust on these sorts of things, though. The Italian was adamant that Liverpool were trying to sign Thiago from Bayern last summer, despite many others denying the story, and he proved to be correct.
