Romano Reveals Liverpool Have Scouted 35M Rated Eredivisie Star “Many Times” As Summer Battle Hots Up

Liverpool have been keeping close tabs on PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reports that many teams, including Arsenal, have enquired about the 22-year-old but he says that the Reds have also been watching the player regularly:

“Cody Gakpo has a lot of admirers around Europe. Arsenal asked information for him… there are many clubs monitoring him. Liverpool sent their scouts many times to watch this boy. Even in other countries, they’re following him. This boy’s really special and I think they’re already preparing to sell him in the summer.”

As Romano says, PSV are willing to offload Gakpo for the right price, with reports indicating they could demand anything between £35m and £50m for the Netherlands international.

However, with the winger in such high demand, there could be a bidding war which could increase his value even further ahead of the summer transfer window.

It would still be a big surprise if Liverpool do make a formal offer for Gakpo, though. The Dutchman prefers playing on the left wing, cutting in onto his stronger right foot. That isn’t exactly an area that manager Jurgen Klopp is short of options, with it being the preferred position for the likes of Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz and even Takumi Minamino.
