Romano Reveals New Twist Involving Jorge Mendes As Spanish Ace (Linked With Liverpool) Considers Future

Super agent Jorge Mendes will sit down with Real Madrid in the coming days to discuss Marco Asensio’s contract situation, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been mentioned as potential suitors for the Spanish international and, while Romano confirms there are “many clubs” interested in the player, his priority is to stay at the Bernabeu:

Asensio has recently praised Mo Salah and Liverpool, prompting more speculation that he would be interested in a switch to Anfield, but the fact that he plays in a similar position to the Egyptian indicates he won’t be a priority target for the Reds.

The 26-year-old could well be available for a pretty low price this summer, though. If talks with Mendes don’t go well, Real could be forced into selling the winger, with his current deal set to expire at the end of next season. Some reports have suggested that he could be sold for just €25m (£21m).
