Roy Keane Delivers Stark Warning To “Other Teams” Who Believe They Can Overhaul Liverpool And City

Anfield Stadium

Roy Keane claims rivals hoping to overhaul Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League will know they face a very difficult task after watching the two title favourites face off in the Community Shield.

The Reds came out 3-1 winners on the day, but Keane says that the two sides are so far ahead of the chasing pack that he can’t see it being anything other than a head-to-head battle to finish first:

“Other teams might be sitting watching this thinking are these teams going to ease off? Not with Pep and Klopp in charge; the hunger and desire from both teams. Klopp got a big smile, looks refreshed, got a new contract – good luck stopping these teams.”

While it’s probably safe to say that the likes of Manchester United and probably Arsenal are not in a position to challenge for the title, there is more debate about Chelsea and Tottenham.

Thomas Tuchel’s side, in particular, were tipped to go toe to toe last year but their campaign faltered badly and they have lost a number of key personnel in the summer. It is hard to see them gaining ground on Liverpool and City.

Spurs are more of a dark horse, with manager Antonio Conte having strengthened his squad, although they would still have to improve significantly on last season if they are to get involved in the title race.
