Salah Warns Van Dijk After Liverpool Defender Is Handed PFA Player Of The Year Award

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool forward Mo Salah congratulated Virgil van Dijk for winning the PFA Player of the Year award last night.

Reds players have now won the honour in the last two seasons, following the Egyptian being handed the award last year, but the winger jokingly warned his teammate on Instagram about the pressure he will be under next season:

“Congrats big man. Well deserved! PFA player of the year. Just be careful and don’t win all the awards this year… otherwise, you know what will happen next year!”

Salah has certainly been unfairly criticised by some sections of the media this season, after failing to match his goal tally from his first campaign.

However, his brace against Huddersfield on Friday night took him to 21 in the league this campaign, one ahead of his teammate Sadio Mane.

For van Dijk, the numbers speak for themselves. Liverpool have conceded the fewest number of goals (20) and have kept 17 clean sheets in the league.

The Dutchman has helped transform the club’s defence and fully deserves the personal accolades coming his way for an imperious season.
