Ex-Liverpool striker Dean Saunders has lavished praise on Mo Salah following his brace in the 5-1 win over Porto last night.

The Egyptian international has been in excellent form this season and Saunders claims he is currently outperforming the likes of Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo and PSG’s Lionel Messi:

“Right now, as we speak, who’s better than him? Eight goals in eight games from right-wing, he’s not playing down the middle. He just looks unstoppable. There’s Messi and Ronaldo, who are on their own, but right now they’re not as good as Salah.”

On paper at least, Salah has better numbers than both Messi (who has scored once this campaign) and Ronaldo (who has hit the back of the net four times).

Whether that will still be the case when we reach the end of the campaign, we shall have to wait and see. Salah has been a constant threat for the Reds in his eight appearances so far and he is currently on course to score 40 plus goals.

The early signs do suggest that he can match the 44 he managed in his first season at Anfield but there are still plenty of matches to play.
