Scholes Asks Why Liverpool Star Would Want To Leave As He Makes Premier League Title Prediction

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was effusive in his praise for Georginio Wijnaldum as Liverpool secured a comfortable 4-0 win against Wolves last night.

The Dutchman scored an excellent goal from outside the box to put the Reds 2-0 up, and Scholes believes that the midfielder should stay at Anfield as he fully expects Jurgen Klopp’s side to continue winning league titles:

“Why would he want to leave, the way they (Liverpool) are playing with attacking football every week? He was linked to Barcelona but it never came off, but why would you want to leave? I think they’ll win the league again and it’s an exciting team for him to play in.”

Wijnaldum’s contract expires at the end of the season but the 30-year-old refused to be drawn on his future following the game yesterday evening. When asked about the situation, Klopp was hopeful that an extension would be signed but gave no guarantees.

Scholes’ title prediction is also interesting, considering the threat posed by the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City, but it appears he has seen enough of the Reds already this campaign to convince him that they should be favourites to finish top, despite their major injury problems.
